The Junior League of Kingston proudly celebrated the twelfth anniversary of its annual fundraiser the Holly Berry Trail in 2012. Traditionally held in early December, the Holly Berry Trail is a holiday house tour in Ulster County, centered around the City of Kingston. The proceeds from this fundraiser allow the Junior League to further its mission of enhancing the well being of Ulster County families through its invaluable community service projects.
The Holly Berry Trail has grown in many ways over its twelve year history. When it was first launched in 2001, the Holly Berry Trail featured just five homes, all of which were owned by a member of the Junior League – and a relatively small number of people attended the trail. Since then, it has blossomed into a much anticipated community event and a time-honored tradition for many of our attendees.
Over the last eight years, the Trail has featured between six and eight homes, and hosts both a morning and afternoon tour to accommodate the growing number of trail–goers. Local florists and caterers donate flowers and food to showcase in each residence.
The homes on each year’s Holly Berry Trail are kept secret until the day of the Trail. Participants purchase tickets prior to the Trail but are only informed of the route and locations upon arriving at the map pick-up site. The map pick-up site has been held at various locations, including the St. James Church, the Old Dutch Church, Kingston City Hall, the Hudson Valley Senior Residence and the Tonner Doll Company Store. For the first few years of the Trail, the Junior League of Kingston also held a holiday boutique and bake sale at the map pick-up site.
Each year the Junior League of Kingston strives to make the Holly Berry Trail a memorable event that ushers in the spirit of the holiday season, as well as a successful fundraiser that allows us to continue our work in the community. We thank the homeowners, since without their generosity and support, this event would not be possible. We also thank the members of the Junior League, past and present, who work hard to make the Holly Berry Trail an event our supporters look forward to year after year.
Thank you for supporting the Junior League of Kingston.
