In 1995 the League participated in the USA Today Weekend “Make a Difference Day” with a pie baking project. The League received an honorable mention in this nationally published newspaper for their efforts in this project. The project continued the following year by baking bread for the Holy Cross Weekend Soup Kitchen.
The Junior League of Kingston in their effort to expand both their service area and project type became involved with Angel Food East to bake pumpkin and apple pies for the organization. Angel Food East is a volunteer group that delivers food to AIDS patients who are unable to leave their homes. The League worked with the YWCA of Ulster County, where the Junior League of Kingston was housed at the time, to bake their pies. The 11 participating League members baked pies alongside YWCA volunteers who made soup and painted pumpkins. The volunteers baked enough pies to feed 25 Angel Food East patients and delivered them along with the soup and pumpkins for Halloween weekend.
