Kingston Kinderland

Kingston Kinderland

During the Junior League year 1989-1990, members began working on an enormous undertaking, a Robert Leathers playground, which we called Kingston Kinderland. In 1990, work for this project really began to get underway. Forsyth Park was chosen as the playground site and major fundraisers were taking off. As a League, we quickly learned that we can gain support of the community at large in so many ways.

After a great deal of fund-raising and community work, Kingston Kinderland was constructed during the League year, 1991 – 1992. Under the leadership of the Junior League of Kingston, this proved to be a huge community effort involving many local individuals, groups and community organizations. It was truly a labor of love!!

Kinderland was gifted to the City of Kingston and is now maintained by the city. The League now has its annual Spring Egg Hunt at Forsyth Park with eggs hidden throughout Kinderland and other areas of the park.
